Product review: Makin Bacon Microwave Rack

Bacon is one of the favorite part of our breakfast in the house at least twice a week. The only way I know how to cook bacon is to fry them in the pan by not putting oil until 2 years ago I discovered Makin Bacon® Microwaveable Rack.

It has a tray with three bars on it where you hang the bacon. Five pieces of bacon at least in each bar so in one cooking there will be fifteen pieces of bacon ready to munch (or depending on the size of your bacon).

Sample of our morning chum.
Cook at least one minute on high power per bacon or depending on how you would like your bacon to be. For us we like it crunchy but not overly cooked.

The finished product. Mmm. Mmm.
Cooking bacon has never been this easier. I don't even have to turn it around and watch over it while cooking. No guessing, no mess, and most of all, the oil is being captured in the tray just like that.

Voila! Presenting the oozing fat captured in the tray.
Imagine those ounces of grease going through your veins. That would be taking at least twice the serving of oatmeal. Although I don't have a problem with that but in my household I'm the only one who can take the texture and taste of oatmeal. So I need to work on that ;-)

My conclusion: The product is excellent! I love it. At least 50% fat from the bacon was taken away and basically it served its purpose. =)

Horror and comedy

My 10-day training at a huge baby store near our place was over. I got in and they assigned me to handle the baby registry which thrilled me so much but unfortunately I had to let it go because my family is coming over to visit and we are hosting the vacation of the big group. Excited much we can't wait to see them all. I told them I wasn't ready for a full-time job yet but I would be willing to revisit and try my luck next time as soon as all the guests are back in Manila.

Bienne at 2 months old
It was fun working for the first time I met new friends and was fascinated with the new baby gadgets that come out of the market. These babies and kids are so lucky to be in this generation (even the parents too!) For a moment, the idea of having another baby entered my mind. But comparing the budget we have now and before the kids came in our lives, yup, that imaginary baby stays in my mind.

Yesterday was my annual check-up visit to my doctor. My OB-Gynecologist upon seeing me in the room energetically said "One more? Before you hit 40." I chuckled and said "Ayaw na ni daddy eh, but I like to welcome the idea." (Daddy doesn't want anymore, but I like to welcome the idea).

Cielo at 4 months old
My Filipina doctor said when she was younger they only have 2 kids and the talk about financial matters is greatly considered in having another baby - mostly a valid reason for the men in the house. But she said something was lacking until her 3rd child came. "One more para may referee sa dalawa pag nag-away tapos tama na. Just tell your husband you got confused in taking your pills" (One more so there's someone who will mediate when the other two fight with each other then that's enough.Just tell your husband you got confused in taking your pills) Funny, because that's how I will also justify to have another baby. The girls are the best of friends but in the next few minutes they'll be fighting like forever.

Before my doctor left the room, I asked her "Doc, how much is the percentage of me getting pregnant after I just stopped my pills?" She said with an impish smile "Oh, you have big chances of getting pregnant again." With the emphasis on the word "big." Que horror! I could only imagine what hubee would be like if he was with me at that time. As I put my clothes on I said to myself "One more huh? Maybe one more kid in the house wouldn't be such a bad idea. But first things first I need to get a job." Then all of a sudden I remembered my father almost crystal-clear was his voice in my head. Months before he passed away, he said I'm going to have another baby after my second child. The thought sent shivers down my spine.

As I make my way out of the clinic, the medical staff informed me, "I already confirmed your prescription to your insurance but it will take few more days for you to receive your pills. Do you want to take it now or you just rather wait for the prescription to be delivered to your home?" Before she even finished what she was saying I said "Now! Now, now! M**her*F**er!" She then handed me a month's sample of my pills. Of course I didn't say the last word (LOL!) I simply said, "I need it now, can I have one sample please?"

Walking alone in the hallway of the hospital I was laughing softly to myself until I reached the car. Should I tell the whole story to hubee or not? =)

His name is Little Beagle!

Out of the blue, my eldest Bienne told me and Poms, "I don't want a puppy anymore." Which by the way she was BEGGING to have one since her little sister Cielo came to this world. I asked "And why may I ask?" She replied, "Because it's going to poop and it's stinky I don't want to clean it." End of story. And that ladies and gentlemen is a proof that my young sweetling is getting a hint of what responsibility means haha.

This afternoon however after our morning mass at the parish near us, we took the girls to the regional park and took a short trip to the pet store beside the bookstore where we really intended to go. After seeing the different breed of cute puppies, Bienne looked at me and said "I want a puppy mommy." Why am I not surprised? One of those puppies is her favorite dog in the whole wide world - a Beagle.

I said, "Oh so now you want a puppy?" She replied, "Yes. I will name him Little. I want a puppy now." Of course we didn't get her one aside from they're too young to take care of their own puppy, her poor little sister Cielo is mildly allergic to pet danders. Mildly or not, we aim to take the word "allergic" out of our vocabulary. If a pet would somehow teach our kids to be more responsible and caring then that would be awesome. Maybe in the future both of them can have a friend where they can pet at home. I know because I think I want a dog too! =)

Shoes, anyone?

While I'm happy with my Skechers SRR Prospeed, I can't resist the urge to get myself another pair of fitness shoes. After all I feel a lot of energy to burn these fats when my feet swear I'm wearing the perfect shoes. In other words, a new pair of shoes means inspiration to do more! =)

My last two pairs of Merrell shoes (Moab and Siren Sport) both lasted for more than 5 years and I absolutely love them! However while window shopping online I found two unusual running shoes that I thought I might give it a try. I'm no longer hiking but I try to squeeze in to my schedule a few trips to the gym and a 20-minute kickboxing workout with my favorite Jillian Michaels dvd. I initially have five pairs to choose from and was down to two.

Adidas Kanadia 5 Trail Shoes. Weights 9.0 ounces, Air mesh upper for maximum ventilation, Molded and injected EVA insole for comfort and long-term lightweight cushioning (I am not sure what that is but it sounds pretty good!), ADIPRENE under the heel for superior cushioning at impact with ADIWEAR outsole for ultimate in high-wear durability and TRAXION outsole for maximum grip in all directions (must be the technical terms they use for their shoes). Most reviews I read were posted by certified personal trainers. Interesting isn't it? I like the combination of colors on black. Its looks I must say is a headturner!

I've always been intrigue with that "zigzaggy" look of Reebok's ZigLite Electrify. Leather/mesh upper for comfort, support, and breathability, low-cut design for added mobility, ZigTech technology for a unique sole that provides responsive cushioning for performance running or training, 3D Ultralite foam technology, and SmoothFit technology streamless seaming for comfortable fit with minimized rub and irritation. The reviews of ZigLite were equally stunning as the Kanadia 5.

Oh these bombastic words they use just make it even more interesting from all sides of the soles. It's like a magic spell to make someone like me take a second look. I wish someone invent a running shoes that can actually and literally take at least a pound of calories off your body with every half a mile walk - oh that would be so awesome!  Anyway, those bold looks molded by technology to me can be just as inspiring to do some mild workouts. What is 30 minutes a day? One of those two will be my birthday gift to myself (you hear that honeybee? =P).

Oh and here's sharing with you my preschooler's personal choice for her:

She loves purple - all shades of purple. Very royalty indeed. She thinks she's a tween already and very independent in her choice of what to wear. I'm so proud of her. I wonder where she got that love for shoes =P
